Understanding Diamonds
At Affinity Diamonds we recognise that purchasing a diamond is a special occasion. This experience can be enhanced for our customers by understanding more about diamonds.
A diamond, once extracted from the earth, is cut and polished at a diamond-cutting factory. The major diamond cutting locations are in South Africa, Belgium, Israel, Russia and India.
Affinity Diamonds buys rough diamonds and polishes them in a number of these countries. To ensure a variety of selection for our customers, we also source polished diamonds.
Each diamond is unique. Diamonds are classified according to four factors, referred commonly to as the 4 Cs. They are:
The fifth C is one that provides peace of mind, and if not considered can lead to costly mistakes.
Certification means that your diamond has been tested and graded by an internationally recognised laboratory. The only certificates we recommend are HRD (Antwerp), GIA (New York) and DCLA (Sydney)
This is your assurance that you get what you pay for.
Diamonds are also available in a variety of shapes.
